If you can see what I see

About me........

My name is Fraser, 39 years (gettin) old and I’m married to Joanne and we have 2 kids, Amelia and Sadie. I have lived in Blackpool all my life and worked here as a Fire-fighter for the last 10 years at the local station

I adore flying…I mean I really love it, just to sit and watch the earth from an elevated position is so fantastic to me. Whenever the family go on holiday there is always an argument about who gets the window seat on the plane, to fly somewhere and not be able to gaze down from above just drives me crazy!!

I get into all sorts of great things, parachuting, scuba, rock climbing, kite boarding, I ski, snowboard, body board, bike, they say I am a gadget man at work but I just love getting outdoors and havin a go at something exciting.

So…there I was sat in my garden last year, relaxing in the sun when I heard a faint buzz in the sky approaching along the promenade near where I live. I looked up instinctively and saw my first Paramotorist above me, cruising down the prom at about 300ft. WOW… or something like that!!! He flew down the prom did a big turn and flew back up the other way. I knew straight away that this was for me. I saw the same guy over a few weeks doing the same thing up and down the prom so finally I went on the net and happened across Pendle Paramotoring in Lancs, gave Mark a call and arranged some training in April this year. Being an impulsive sort I started looking at gear and it wasn’t long before I was handing over more hard earned cash for another crazy venture. Luckily for me I have a great understanding wife who goes along with these mad ideas……pester power does work!!

The training went great, 2 sunny days kiting the wing and learning the basics. The first flight is testy experience but with mark guiding me over the radio it all went great. Once you are up its just fantastic, especially over the Fylde Coast at Blackpool. The views are amazing, the Lakes to the North, Snowdonia to the South, the Pennines to the East and the Isle of Man out in the Irish sea…just breathtaking.

To take off from near my house, fly over it, wave at the family and down the prom is an unbelievable experience; I gauge my height by looking at a rather big metal structure on the sea front. If I’m level with the tower then I’m 500ft….just right.

If you reading this and fancy a go at Paramotoring

Get out there, do it……….but I warn you…….addiction comes as standard.
